Goals


Mission Statement

The colon and rectal surgery residency program mission is to provide the resident with comprehensive academic and clinical training that fosters compassionate and exemplary evidence-based care. This program serves a diverse community and aligns with our institutional mission to provide an exceptional healing presence within our community. The program mission also aligns with Trinity core values:

Program Aims

The program aims are:

  1. The fellow will develop clinical expertise in procedural and medical management of diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, based on the ACGME core competencies. Progressive independence will be developed through continuous formative feedback and measured by Milestone-based evaluations.
  2. Fellows will be actively engaged members of the department quality improvement and research efforts and will be mentored in these efforts.
  3. Patients will be genuinely appreciate the quality of resident care rendered that they would recommend family and friends.
  4. Our resident will be well trained in the critical appraisal of current literature and aspire to contribute on a lifelong basis.
  5. Upon completion of training, we expect our resident to be an effective and collegial provider implementing Trinity core values in any academic community or university practice in the country, mindful of the community needs and public health issues in the community they serve.
