Expert Inpatient Rehabilitation Care in Muskegon

Trinity Health Inpatient Rehabilitation – Muskegon Hospital helps patients rebuild strength, restore function and achieve greater independence after a serious illness, injury or medical event.

In partnership with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, our program combines advanced therapies, 24/7 medical care and a compassionate, team-based approach.

Our team works collaboratively to create individualized treatment plans that support recovery and prepare patients for a successful return to daily life.

Please note: inpatient rehab is not a step-down unit or skilled nursing facility. It is a high-intensity, acute rehabilitation program.

Specialized Rehabilitation for Complex Conditions

Our inpatient rehabilitation program provides intensive therapy and medical management for individuals recovering from:

  • Stroke
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Non-traumatic brain injury
  • Amputation
  • Multiple traumatic injuries
  • Functional decline following prolonged hospitalization
  • Other diagnoses requiring coordinated inpatient rehabilitation services

What to Expect During Your Stay

Patients admitted to inpatient rehabilitation participate in a structured program designed to maximize recovery and functional progress.

Services may include:

  • Physical therapy to improve strength, mobility and balance
  • Occupational therapy to enhance independence with daily activities
  • Speech-language therapy for communication, cognition and swallowing needs
  • Neuropsychology services
  • Rehabilitation nursing
  • Care coordination and discharge planning

Patients typically receive at least three hours of therapy each day, five days per week, while remaining under continuous medical supervision in a hospital setting.

A Partnership Built on Rehabilitation Excellence

Our collaboration with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital brings nationally recognized rehabilitation expertise to the Muskegon community. Patients benefit from evidence-based treatment approaches, coordinated care planning and access to experienced rehabilitation professionals dedicated to helping individuals reach their recovery goals.

Personalized, Team-Based Care

Every patient is supported by a multidisciplinary team that works together throughout the rehabilitation journey.

Your care team may include:

  • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physicians
  • Physician assistants
  • Registered nurses
  • Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurses (CRRN)

  • Occupational therapists
  • Speech-language pathologists
  • Neuropsychologists

Through daily collaboration and ongoing care conferences, the team continuously evaluates progress and adjusts treatment plans to meet each patient's needs.

Recovery That Extends Beyond the Hospital

Preparing patients and families for life after rehabilitation is an important part of the recovery process. Family members and caregivers are encouraged to participate in education and training sessions, learn practical caregiving techniques and take part in discharge planning discussions.

Our goal is to help every patient transition safely and confidently to the next stage of recovery.
