About
Dr. Amanda Kupstas, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon. She was born and raised in Michigan and departed for a short time to complete her fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in 2019. Since then, she returned to her community as a breast surgical oncologist with Trinity Health specializing in the management of breast cancer. Her personal approach to care is focused on empowerment through patient advocacy, education, and shared decision making. Acting as the Director of the High-Risk Breast Program, she believes in a public health approach to breast cancer working with our team of Advanced Practice Providers (Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners) to identify women who are at an elevated risk of developing breast cancer and developing a plan for risk reduction and enhanced screening allowing for early detection. She specializes in nipple sparing mastectomy and her passion for reducing the emotional impact of breast cancer with optimal outcomes was highlighted in HOUR magazine’s Top Doc issue. Her interests also include risk reducing mastectomy, flat aesthetic closure, lumpectomy or breast conservation, special considerations in care of geriatric patients, and management of premalignant and benign breast disease. She predominately cares for patients in Livonia and Brighton but also sees patients and operates out of the Ann Arbor campus. She is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and has been inducted as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
