Outside of work, I enjoy baking, hot yoga, farmers markets, flipping vintage, hiking, quaint coffee shops and getting lost in the pages of a good book.

Why I chose this program/location for my training

I chose this program so that I could become a more well-rounded provider to better serve my community. I wanted the opportunity to continue to grow within a program designed for learning and additional mentorship as I start my career as a new graduate PA! I have loved all my rotations in the hospital setting thus far, so I am looking forward to getting experiences in a variety of new areas of medicine as well as narrowing down what specialty I want to eventually end up in.

I have been lucky enough to call West Michigan home for the last 7 years and the location was perfect for me and my goals of staying long term!

Hobbies/interests outside of work

I love the beach, hiking, running and traveling! I grew up camping every summer in state parks all over Michigan and love the outdoors. I also love to cook/bake and I'm always up for trying new recipes. I'm very close to my friends/family and spend a lot of my free time with them when I can!

Why I chose this program/location for my training

After finishing my PA degree at Western Michigan University, I wanted to pursue more training on the western side of Michigan because I loved the landscape and the people. Coming from a small town in Wyoming, I fell in love with exquisite beaches and hikes that Michigan had to offer.

I had heard many wonderful things about Trinity Health's PA residency program so I decided to pursue more training at that location. The programs mission and schedule for training PA resident fellows drew me in because I desired medical confidence and expert training within the Internal Medicine world.

Hobbies/interests outside of work

I enjoy being outside, eating delicious food and spending time with friends and family. My heart lives in nature and in its bountiful beauties. Going to the beach, hiking in the trees and dunes around Michigan, and when I go home, hiking in the mountains. I also enjoy the arts, including seeing plays, live music, art shows and concerts.

I chose this program because I want to continue growing as a physician assistant, especially in the inpatient setting. I like that I will have the opportunity to rotate through a variety of inpatient subspecialities to gain a better understanding of how they all work together.

I originally came to Michigan for PA school, but immediately fell in love with the lake and surrounding areas. Finding this fellowship program was the perfect fit for me!

Hobbies/interests outside of work

I danced competitively throughout college and still enjoy dancing in my kitchen. Additionally, I like journaling and hiking, and have just started to learn how to ski and mountain bike.

Kentucky has been my home for my entire life. I fell in love with Lake Michigan and the wonderful community of Muskegon. The Internal Medicine fellowship at Mercy Hospital will provide me with more knowledge and experience as I kickstart my career. I am looking forward to serving this area!

I have a pet veiled chameleon named Irwin; I love reptiles. I am a big UofK fan- go cats! I enjoy coordinating looks for weddings, proms, and even Halloween as I am a self trained hair and make up artist. Being from Kentucky, I love outdoor sports and enjoy fishing and hunting. Additionally, I am a professionally trained sommelier. I look forward to exploring West Michigan!

I have always had an interest in internal medicine and knew I wanted to pursue a career as an inpatient provider. This program has allowed me to improve upon my knowledge base by completing rotations in a variety of inpatient specialties. The diversity of rotations in this program will provide me with further experience so I can provide the best care for my patients.

I also welcomed the idea of living in West Michigan. With Muskegon's close proximity to Lake Michigan and Grand Rapids it has been a fun place to live!

Despite loving every rotation I went on clinical year, by the time I became a new grad, I still hadn't felt that I found my niche yet. With this program, I liked the idea of diving deeper into the areas of medicine I initially got exposure to in PA school, while also gaining experience in the areas I've never had the chance to work in. As someone who's passionate about teaching, I also liked the idea of receiving the extra mentorship and training that I could eventually pass on to others. The fact that this program is next to Lake Michigan, an area I've always wanted to live in, is definitely a bonus.

This program offers a unique opportunity for PAs to really strengthen their knowledge base in all areas of medicine. As a new grad, there was a large appeal to rotate through different subspecialties with a 6 month focus on critical care and internal medicine. I believe this program is going to strengthen my overall knowledge and confidence in medicine and serve as an excellent stepping stone into my future professional career.
