Why I chose this program/Grand Rapids for my training
The Trinity Health Grand Rapids Geriatric Fellowship stood out because of its comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to caring for older adults. The program offers diverse clinical experiences in inpatient geriatrics, long-term care, hospice and palliative care, rehabilitation, geriatric psychiatry and memory disorders. This breadth of training aligns with my goal of becoming a well-rounded geriatrician who can provide compassionate, evidence-based care across the continuum of aging.
Another aspect that drew me to the program was the strong collaboration between Trinity Health and its affiliated organizations, providing exposure to a broad spectrum of geriatric care settings and patient populations. The program's emphasis on research, quality improvement, career development and mentorship from experienced faculty also creates an ideal environment for professional growth.
I am confident that the diverse opportunities and comprehensive training this program provides will help me achieve my long-term goals in the field of geriatrics, and I am excited for the opportunity to continue my growth during this year of fellowship.
Hobbies/what I do outside of work
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our miniature dachshund, Matilda, and both of our families. My husband and I love attending Detroit sporting events, especially cheering on the Detroit Lions.
In my free time, I enjoy collecting and caring for plants, baking with my sourdough starter, fishing, hiking, disc golfing and paddle boarding.
